The Share Shop’s annual winter outerwear drive is underway, preparing for its Saturday, Oct. 29, distribution.
The Share Shop Team is collecting donations of gently used or new: winter coats, snow pants, winter boots and accessories in children’s, youth and adult sizes.
Collection boxes are located throughout Clear Lake waiting to receive donations at: Randy’s Market, Fareway, MBT, Clear Lake Bank & Trust, Farmers State Bank, Clear Lake Public Library, CLTEL, All Clear Lake Schools, and most Clear Lake churches. Nearly 1,000 items are shared each year during Share Shop Community Distribution. Monetary donations fill any gaps, and can be made online at www.sharelifeclearlake.com/share-shop.
The Share Shop Community Distribution is Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the First Congregational Church on Buddy Holly Place, behind The Other Place. Personal shoppers will greet and assist each individual and family in finding just the right winter outerwear for each person.
“Our volunteer personal shoppers lovingly help
parents navigate the shop and find items that are just right for everyone,” explained Kristen Seehusen, who together with Cathy Bancroft is a Share Shop coordinator. “What an opportunity we have to love and care for each person in our community and make winter a bit warmer for all. Both who give and receive are blessed.”
The Share Shop was formerly known as the Engage Winter Outerwear Drive led by Colleen Thompson. Thompson moved from the community in 2017 and asked for the drive to continue. The Share Shop is a project of the local non-profit, Share Life, which also organizes a Free Summer Lunch program for 10 weeks every summer and provides Lunch and Breakfast Grocery Boxes for families during the Winter and Spring Breaks.
