Clear Lake sophomore Reese Brownlee is proving she’s going to be a force to be reckoned with on the track this season. Brownlee won the 200 meter race in a time of 26.57, at the UNI Dickinson Relays on Monday, March 6.
“Reese is having some foot issues, but managed to run a good time,” said Coach Shawn Puttmann. “The meet was a good start to the season.”
Also showing a lot of promise is sophomore Addison Doughan. Doughan placed seventh overall in the 1500 with a time of 4:59.44.
“This time is only six seconds off her best time of 4:53, which she ran at last year’s outdoor State Championships,” said Distance Coach Tyler Havens. “I am really happy with how she got out front and competed with the best girls in the state.”
The 4×800 team set a time faster than was recorded last year, placing 15th overall with a time of 10:43.83. Members of the relay include Anna Feuerbach, Rebekah Steinbron, Emily McLaughlin and Lauren Englin.
“Emily (McLaughlin) ran especially well coming away with a split time about :20 seconds better than her best from last season,” said Havens.
The 4×400 relay placed 16th overall with a time of 4:29.90. Members of the relay are Englin, Feuerbach, Steinbron and Doughan.
McLaughlin has come into the season ready to compete and has already dropped her 800 time by 20 seconds, finishing in 17th place with a time of 2:34.71.
“I believe that we will compete very well in the North Central Conference this season,” said Puttmann.
