Both teams take home titles at North Iowa Indoor Championships

Clear Lake track and field coaches had a vision for an indoor meet in the new Clear Lake Athletics and Wellness Center.  They wanted to create an electric championship environment, while also allowing teams to bring every athlete on their roster to take part.

That vision came to life on Thursday and Friday, as Clear Lake hosted the North Iowa Indoor Championships. Eleven other teams from around North Iowa, including Nevada, made the trip up north to participate. All teams were allowed one relay and two individuals per event, with the exception of the 60 meter dash and 3000/3200 meter run where unlimited entries were allowed, and the 4×800 and 4×200 meter relays where teams could have two entries.

The boys meet also included a couple of unique events such as the 200 meter hurdles and the 4000 meter relay (college distance medley) which Coach Tyler Havens said made the event unlike anything else in the state.

“The Clear Lake Track and Field coaching staff would like to thank all the following individuals and organizations for making this meet a success: CLAW staff, CLCSD Grounds Staff, CLPD, all event volunteers, Activities Director Troy Tysdahl, announcer Dylan Anderson, Live Stream Coordinator Emily Hill, Starter Chris Suntken, Wayzata Results, and everyone who came to support our teams.”
