Busy week for the Clear Lake girls tennis team

The Clear Lake girls tennis team had a very busy week wrapping up the regular season and competing in the North Central Conference Tournament.  

The Lions battled against St. Edmond, Webster City, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Nevada and Iowa Falls-Alden at the NCC tourney in Fort Dodge Wednesday, May 3.  The Lions were able to submit two singles players and two doubles teams for  tournament play. 

Macey Brant and Emma Allie competed in singles matches. Brant and Allie ended up facing each other in the 5th place match, where Allie got the victory with a final score of 8-5.  Allie finished the tournament with a record of 4-1 for the day.  Brant was sixth with a record of 3-2.

The doubles team of Makayla Martin and Kara Ouverson ended the day with a record of 1-2.  Paityn Enke and Lillianna Rodriguez finished 0-2.

As a team, the Lions finished fifth overall.  St. Edmond won the NCC title and Webster City was runner-up.  IF-A took third and Nevada was fourth.  H-D-CAL was sixth.

 

Quad at Wartburg 

The Lions played in a quad meet with Aplington-Parkersburg, Osage and Waverly Shell Rock on Thursday, May 4, at Wartburg College. Again, two singles players and two doubles teams took part.  A-P and Waverly-Shellrock each topped the Lions by 3-1 scores; Osage was a 4-0 winner.
