CL JV baseball team goes 2-1 for the week

The Clear Lake JV baseball team picked up wins over Algona and St. Edmonds last week, but fell to Dike New Hartford.

 

CL 10, Algona 1

The JV baseballl team dominated Algona, 10-1, on Monday, June 12.

The Lions scored one run in the second inning.  The team exploded in the third inning, scoring a whopping six runs. The inning was aided by a double by Max Larson, that allowed Nick Strayer and Trevor Theobald to score.  The solid inning gave the Lions a 8-0 lead.

The Bulldogs scored once in the fourth inning.  Clear Lake scored its final run on single by Tate Garman that brought in Theobald.

Garman led the team at the plate with two hits, one single and one double.

CJ Lester pitched all five innings.  He gave up two hits and one run and struck out nine batters.

 

DNH 9, CL 5

The Lions fell to Dike New Hartford on Tuesday, June 13.  

Clear Lake got on the board first scoring two runs in the third inning.  Trevor Theobald smacked a triple that scored Gage Larson and Carson Riser.

DNH answered that by scoring four runs in the fourth inning and five more in the fifth inning, 9-3.

Clear Lake scored three more runs in the bottom of the fifth, but it wasn’t enough and they fell, 9-5.

Theobald was perfect at the plate going 3/3.  He also led the team with two RBIs. Larson and Riser were the only other two batters to get a hit.

Alex Kerr got the loss on the mound.  He gave up five hits and nine runs.  He walked three and struck out five.

 

CL 9, St. Edmond 2

The JV team bounced back on Wednesday, June 14, with a win over St. Edmond.

The Lions got on the board with two runs in the first innings.  Carson Riser and Trevor Theobald scored the runs.

Clear Lake scored three runs in the second inning.  One one a sacrifice fly by Riser that scored Gage Larson.  Nick Strayer and Dylan Plagge also scored to go up, 5-0.

In the third inning, Strayer smacked a single line drive that scored CJ Lester and Alex Kerr, 7-0.

St. Edmond scored two runs in the fourth inning, 7-2.

Clear Lake scored two more runs in the bottom of the fifth for the final, 9-2 victory.

Batting leaders were Jaxson McIntire with two singles and Lester had one double.

Max Larson pitched five innings.  He gave up three hits and two runs. He walked one and struck out nine.
