Nicholas Dustin Horst, 43, of Clear Lake, was arrested on Nov. 18 after allegedly stealing a pickup truck in Clear Lake at the Kwik Star, located at 1006 N. 20th St.
The affidavit states that at around 6:41 a.m., Horst was at the Kwik Star and stole a 2022 Ram pickup that had been left running with the doors unlocked. When the owner discovered the missing truck, officers were notified. The search culminated at the AmericInn Hotel where Horst was found in the pickup. He confessed to taking the pickup.
While being booked into the county jail, a small amount of methamphetamine was allegedly found on Horst.
Horst has been charged with first-degree theft and possession of contraband inside a correctional facility according to court records. If convicted of both counts, he will face up to 15 years in prison.
