The Lion girls basketball team found its roar in Webster City, defeating the district foe, 60-30, on the Lynx home court last Tuesday, Nov. 28.

The Lions have taken care of business against the Lynx historically, with a record of 29-5, according to gobound.com.

Taking a first quarter lead, the Lions led the Lynx 11-8 before a nearly even second quarter saw the Lions leading by four at the halftime buzzer, 26-22.

It was the third quarter when the Lions made adjustments that the Lions really found rhythm, outscoring the Lynx 22-5 to jump to a 21 point lead.

The Lions defense continued to stand firm allowing only three points in the third quarter, while the offense kept finding ways to score, adding 12 to the total elevating the Lions to their first win of the season.

Clear Lake was led by leading scorer Madi Ott who scored 16 points, followed by Xada Johnson with 15 and Taylor Schwenn with 13.

Addie Doughan led the team in rebounds with seven, while also snatching three steals and leading the team in assists with seven.

The Lions traveled to New Hampton Tuesday night to face the Chickasaws.
