Mohawks drop two more games on the road

It was a tough road trip for the Mason City Mohawk hockey team as they came up short in two games against the Des Moines Oak Leafs last week.

In the first contest, the Oak Leafs won 6-2 with the Mohawks two goals coming from Brayden Pearce and Dylan Bieber, who also had one assist each.

Goalie Nathan Foster recorded 22 saves on 28 attempts for the Mohawks, while the Oak Leafs were able to save 26 on 28 attempts.

Des Moines 5 

Mason City 1

The second contest between the two teams saw slightly less offense with each team scoring one less goal than the previous day.  Mason City once again fell, this time 5-1.

The lone goal for Mason City came from Tanner Ruehlow in the second period.

The Mohawks placed Foster in the goal where he had 20 saves on 25 shot attempts.

The Oak Leaks saw their goalie save 34-of-35 shots that came at him.

The Mohawks are looking to have better luck this Saturday and Sunday when they host Quad City at 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 9 and 10:30 a.m. Dec. 10.
