It was another big win for the Lions last Tuesday, Dec. 12, when they traveled to Clarion to face the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys in a North Central Conference match up.

The Lions improved to 5-0 on the season and 1-0 in the conference with the 69-33 victory over the Cowboys.

Recently, the Lions have started games slow and a little timid, but that seemed to be gone against the Cowboys when the Lions hit double digits in the first quarter, outscoring Clarion 19-5 in the first eight minutes.

Both teams found points in the second, but the Lions continued to lead, outscoring the Cowboys 18-12.  By the time the halftime horn rang, the Lions had jumped ahead to a 20-point lead, 37-17.

Things didn’t slow down for the Lions in the second half either as they continued to move up and down the court with ease, scoring from all over the court.

The Lions found 23 points in the third quarter, their best scoring quarter of the night, while only allowing six to the host team.

The Cowboys were able to outscore the Lion bench in the final quarter of the game, 10-9, however, it wasn’t enough to overcome the large deficit the Lions had put the Cowboys in.

Cael Stephany led the Lions with 18 points, followed by Dylan Litzel with 13 and Thomas Meyer with 12.

The team as a whole had 31 rebounds, led by Meyer who had nine.

It wasn’t stingy basketball either with the Lions recording 27 assists. Trevor Theobald led the pack with eight assists.
