After a three game slide, the Mason City Mohawk hockey team is back in the win column after two wins over Fremont on Friday, Dec. 29 and Saturday, Dec. 30, both on the road.
The first match saw the Mohawks win big by a score of 6-1 with a mix of players finding paydirt.
The Mohawks led after the first period, 2-1, with goals from Max Lang and Brayden Pearce and assists from Kellen Kantaris, Dylan Bieber and Emmett Riley.
Fremont was able to get on the board with a goal by Trenton Smutz and assisted by Nate Koborg with only :34 seconds to go in the period.
It was all Mohawks after the first, though, as the visitors put three more goals in the net in the second on shots from Jaxon Bothwell and Tanner Ruehlow.
Hudson Carney, Riley and Bothwell assisted.
Bieber scored the sixth goal of the night early in the third period with an assist from Kantaris and Thomas Hubbard.
Nathan Foster was in the goal for the Mohawks and had 18 saves with one goal against.
Fremont had Gaius Schapper in the net and his busy night consisted of 31 saves and six goals against.

Game two saw the Mohawks win 6-2 against Fremont.
Fremont scored first before Kantaris put in two unassisted goals to put Mason City ahead after one.
The second saw more offense by the Mohawks with Bothwell, Pearce and Kantaris all adding to the dominant victory.
The third goals saw Fremont tack on a second goal, but Ruehlow added the sixth early in the third for the win.
Foster was back in the goal for the Mohawks, saving 20 shots with two getting by.
Fremont’s Easton Loucks had a busy day with 48 shots against and six going in.
Mason City will face Ames on the road Friday, Jan. 5, before returning home Saturday, Jan. 6 and 7 when they will host Omaha.
