A Mason City man who recently pleaded guilty to the theft of a gun from a Clear Lake residence was sentenced to ten years in prison.
John C. Snyder, 22, of Mason City, was accused of stealing a handgun from a Clear Lake residence on July 30, 2023 and was originally charged with first-degree robbery, a Class B felony.
He was taken into custody on August 7, 2023 after the North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force Special Operations Group executed a search warrant at a home in the 2600 block of South Federal in Mason City. The Clear Lake Police Department, Garner Police Department, Mason City Police Department, and Mason City Fire Department assisted at the scene.
As part of a plea agreement, Snyder pleaded guilty to first-degree theft, a Class C felony. He was recently sentenced by District Judge DeDra Schroeder to 10 years in prison.
