Clear Lake 36

It was a disappointing Monday night for Clear Lake (7-5) as the girls hosted the Humboldt Wildcats (9-4) in a game that was twice postponed before, due to weather.

With both teams trailing Algona in the conference, the Lions and Wildcats were both tied with a conference record of 6-2.

The Lions couldn’t stop Humboldt’s Morgan Mann or Ava Fischer as they both dropped in over 20 points on the night with both being hot from the three-point arc, making four apiece.

The high-powered Wildcat offense put the Lions in a deep hole early, outscoring Clear Lake 23-9 in the first quarter.

The second saw the Lion defense have success in slowing down the Wildcat offense, but at halftime, the Lions trailed 33-18.

Another strong showing in the third by Humboldt put Clear Lake behind by 16 more points to lead 59-28.

Clear Lake was able to put eight on the board in the fourth, while holding the Wildcats to five, but with the damage done, the Lions fell 64-36.
