Mohawk hockey team strings together wins

Mason City 4

DM Capitals 1

The Mohawks had a decisive 4-1 win against the DM Capitals.  They took an early 2-0 lead through the first period with goals by Brayden Pearce and Dylan Bieber, with Kellen Kantaris assisting on Bieber’s goal.

The second period saw goals scored by Max Lang and Bieber to go up 4-0.  Avery Beyer and Noah Honn assisted Lang with his goal.

The Mohawks gave up one goal in the third period to end the game.

Nathan Foster, goalie for the Mohawks, had 19 saves and gave up one.

 

Cedar Rapids 2

Mason City 1

Hosting the Cedar Rapids Rough Riders, the Mohawks lost the first of two games in overtime after both teams scored in the second period.

Cedar Falls scored first before Bieber answered.  He was assisted by Pearce and Zack Lloyd.

Cedar Falls won in overtime.

In the second game the following day, the Mohawks were on top of their game, outscoring the Rough Riders 5-2 with a strong showing in the third period.

The Mohawks scored one in the first period on a goal by Kantaris with a Bieber assist before heading into the second period where Pearce scored on an assist by Kantaris and Jaxon Bothwell.

Cedar Rapids put one in the net heading into the third period.

Bieber made the third goal, and Cedar Rapids answered making it 3-2.

Pearce added another goal assisted by Kantaris to end the game with a win. Foster had seven saves on nine shots against.
