The Mason City Youth Hockey League saw the Mohawks end the season with two games against the Des Moines Oak Leafs at home in Mason City.
The two games were close, but the Mohawks fell short in both to end the season with a 14-14 record.

In Saturday’s match-up with the Oak Leafs, the Mohawks started out hot with two goals that came from Hudson Carney (assisted by Lamar Barragan) and Dylan Bieber just over halfway through the first period.
The Mason City team was fired-up and playing great defense, keeping the puck on the Oak Leaf side of the arena , but a late goal by the Oak Leafs Michael Grant on a power play saw the visitors on the board.
The second period started with a quick Des Moines goal with only 1:38 off the clock. Just over a minute later, the Oak Leafs took the 3-2 lead on a Brolen Kooker goal.
It was all Des Moines in the second period with the Mohawks struggling to find offense.
Taking advantage of another power play, the Oak Leafs saw Elliott score once more just over halfway through the second, ending in a 4-2 Oak Leaf lead.
The third saw plenty of action with Bieber scoring the first goal on a power play just two minutes into the third.
Caiden Anderson, of Des Moines, answered back before Kellen Kantaris, of Mason City, scored on assists from Carney and Max Lang just :22 seconds after the Oak Leaf goal.
Anderson scored again, on a power play, for the Oak Leafs and led the Mohawks 6-4.
Kantaris, assisted by Bieber, made the game a one goal contest before Max Lang, assisted by Bieber, tied the contest with under :30 seconds on the clock.
The game went into overtime and Charlie Lorbiecki, assisted by Jackson Krier, scored the winning goal for the Oak Leafs with 4:38 off the clock.
The Oak Leaf’s had Will Sanftner in the goal and he saw 33 shots and had 27 saves.
The Mohawks saw Nathan Foster in the goal with 25 shots and 18 saves.

In Sunday’s match-up, the two teams went at it again, but this time offense wasn’t as prominent, with both teams defense shining as the Mohawks fell 3-2.
The first period was all defense, with no goals scored in the 17 minutes, but after the break, period two saw plenty of action toward the end of the period.
Things started off with the Oak Leafs Anderson Schiesl scoring on a power play 1:40 into the period before Mohawks Max Lang scored on Thomas Medlin and lane Hansen assists 10:04 into the period.
The Oak Leafs retook the lead, 2-1, on a Lorbiecki goal just :22 seconds after the Mohawks found the net. Carney (assisted by Lang and Kantaris) kept things knotted up at two each headed into the third.
Only one goal was had in the third, which was the deciding factor, as Anderson put the puck in the net for the Oak Leafs.
Jack Jerstad was in the net for the Oak Leafs and saw 35 shots and 33 saves.Nathan Foster was back in the goal for the Mohawks and saw 32 shots with 29 saves.
