The fifth grade Clear Lake Crush AAU volleyball team, led by coaches Melissa McColley and Jessica Schroeder closed out a season that saw the girls bond and form relationships that transcended the game.
Throughout the season, the team participated in multiple tournaments, including the inaugural Ace of Hearts tournament held in Clear Lake where they clinched the first-place title.
The Ace of Hearts tournament win, as well as a second tournament victory, pushed the Crush through to the State Tournament held at Southeast Polk where they faced off against 40 teams from across Iowa.
In the state tournament, the Clear Lake Crush found their camradarie and talent push them through pool play and into the middle of the pack where they finished in 23rd.
The Clear Lake Crush will look towards next season as they move from fifth grade to sixth and continue to hone their skills on the court.
