The North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) Trojan golf team opened the spring season with a road trip to Maryville, Mo. the team placed fourth overall and saw Karissa Hoon, of Durant, lead the team with a 99.
Waldorf University took top honors with a team score of 381, while NIACC shot a 417.
“It was a tough day weather-wise for everyone,” said NIACC coach Chris Frenz in a release. “Overall, I’m fairly pleased with how the girls performed.
“Obviously, our scores need to be better, but I saw more good things than bad from all of them. Karissa Hoone played a solid round as she has been playing pretty well in practice, so it’s good to see that carry over.”
Paige Danger, of Iowa Falls, shot a 101, Emma Weiner, of Mason City, shot a 107 and Cameran Moellers, of Cresco, shot a 110.
“Again, scores were high all around because of the conditions,” Frenz said. “So I think we’ll be able to take some positives out of this effort. We just need some nice weather to start getting dialed in.”
