The Clear Lake Fire Department (CLFD) was dispatched to a structure fire at the Tyler Stevens residence, 9722 230th St., in rural Clear Lake, at 2:22 p.m. on April 14.
When the fire department arrived they found a detached double stall garage fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters extinguished the fire and prevented flames from spreading to the adjacent home.
CLFD says the garage and its contents, including four riding lawn mowers and a 2004 Jeep Wrangler, were a total loss. The damage is estimated at $45,000. The cause of the fire was determined to be embers from an earlier controlled burn that was thought to be extinguished. No injuries were reported.
The Clear Lake Fire Department was assisted by the Ventura Fire Department and the Cerro Gordo Sheriff’s Office. CLFD responded with two pumper-tankers and one 13 staff medic unit. The Ventura Fire Department responded with seven firefighters manning a tanker unit and pumper.
