The Clear Lake Lion girls track and field team traveled to Indianola for the Ron Werling Relays that included 12 teams.
Indianola placed first with 144 points while Southeast Polk was second with 143 and Waukee Northwest was third with 108.
Clear Lake scored 36 points to place fifth.
The Lions saw Addie Doughan take second overall in the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:42.01, just 1.01 seconds off Indianola’s Gracie Foster who finished first.
Doughan had the highest finish for Clear Lake, but a few runners found themselves just on the outside of the top three, such as Madison Leisure in the 100 meter dash, finishing in 13.17 to place fourth behind Southeast Polk’s Avery Warren who ran a 13.04.
The 4×100 team of Madison Leisure, Emersyn McGrath, Ella Landau and Lydia Brattrud finished 4th with a time of 52.67. The 4×400 team of Lauren Englin, Saylor Schmitt, Rebekah Steinbron and Anna Feuerbach ran a 4:33.85 to place fourth.
The 800 medley relay team of Leisure, Landau, E. McGrath and Englin finished fourth with a time of 1:59.34 and the shuttle hurdle relay also took fourth place with a time of 1:19.25 and was ran by Aliya Johnson, Payton McGrath, Nevaeh Paul and Pieper Lester.
