It’s been a good season so far for the Lions as they notch another win on the season, this time at Hampton-Dumont-CAL with a total of 139 points, to beat out the hosts who scored 128. Garner-Hayfield-Ventura finished third with 121 points to round out the top three.
Cooper Cooke and Derek Erpelding were quick in the 100 meter hurdles as Cooke took first in a time of 15.82 and Erpelding was third in 16.18. The two Lions were split by Roland-Story’s Jayden Strum in a time of 16.15.
Sam Dodge finished third in the 200 meter dash in a time of 23.51. The top three in that race were all in the :23 second range with first going to Aplington-Parkersburg’s Kael Stotler in 23.30 and followed by Kyen Brown of G-H-V in 23.32.
In the 400 meter run, Bradyn Watkins finished second for the Lions with a time of 55.33.
The Lion distance medley team of Dontrel Johnson, Tyler LeFevre, Keeton Jeppeson and Owen Smith finished third with a time of 4:00.52.
The Lion 4×100 team of Blake Enke, Titan Schmitt, Sam Dodge and Alex Kerr finished first with a time of 43.60.
Another victory for a Lion relay team came in the shuttle hurdle with Erpelding, Jeppeson, Max Larson and Cooper Cooke, finishing in 1:04.08.
The 4×200 team of Enke, Schmitt, Dodge and Kerr was second with a time of 1:30.92.
In third with a time of 3:43.00 was the 4×400 team of LeFevre, Smith, Watkins and Aidan Hartl.
Dylan Litzel, who will be competing at Drake Relays in the high jump, finished second with a clearance of 6-04 which ranked him 16th in the state.
In the long jump, Isaac Brownlee finished third, leaping 18-07.5.
Landyn Lewerke finished third in the shot put, throwing the shot a distance of 45-07.
