The Clear Lake Lions competed in the North Iowa Area Special Olympics Spring Games Track & Field competition in Spirit Lake on April 23, 2024, which is the state qualifier for the Summer Games in Ames.
Finishing first in the 100 meter dash and standing long jump was Ivan Hrubes, Mikha Coleman and Zoey Campbell.
Urijah Maulsby finished first in the 100 meter dash and second in the standing long jump, while Quentin Maulsby was first in the standing long jump and second in the 100 meter dash.
McKenzie Flugum was second in the standing long jump and 100 meter dash while Amber Winter was third in the standing long jump and 100 meter dash.
A first place finish is an automatic qualifier for the Summer Games, which puts five Special Olympians competing in eight events from Clear Lake in Ames on May 17.
