The Clear Lake Lion boys golf team hosted a triangular with Hampton-Dumont-CAL and Iowa Falls-Alden on Wednesday, May 1.
The Lions were able to best the competition, shooting a 158 which was nine stroked ahead of H-D-CAL in second with 167 and Iowa Falls-Alden in third with 170.
Eli Anderson led the Lion golfers with a 35, while Gain Roske came in second with a 40.
Taylor Plagge shot 41 and Gavin Anderson shot a 42.
Dylan Plagge wasn’t far behind with a 45 and rounding out the scoring was Cade Dillavou with a 46.
Junior Varsity
On the junior varsity side of competition, the Lions shot a 160 to lead H-D-CAL who shot 207 and Iowa Falls-Alden in third who shot a 208.
Leading the Lion scorers was Kenny Fisher with 37, followed by Carter Perry and Nick Strayer, each with 40.
Luke Fuhrman shot a 43 and rounding out the shooters was Hudson Carney with a 44.

The Lions placed third at the Clear Lake Invitational. Veenker, missed out on second by one stroke to Waverly-Shell Rock.
Clear Lake was led by Cade Dillavou with a 77 after 18 holes, while Taylor Plagge was second at 81.
Gavin Roske and Gavin Anderson both shot 82 and Eli Anderson finished with an 88.
Dylan Bieber rounded out the scoring, shooting a 90 overall.
“One of the tougher courses in Iowa, and I thought we played well,” said Lion head coach Eric Perry. “Cade appeared to have control of his irons, which led to his third place finish. Taylor and the two Gavins really propelled our team today.”
North Central Conference
The Lions finished second in the North Central Conference tournament on Monday, May 6, after posting a score of 317, just behind Humboldt who shot a 309.
Webster City was on top of its game, just one stroke behind Clear Lake to finish third.
Algona cleared fourth with a score of 331, while Iowa Falls-Alden took fifth with 340.
Hampton-Dumont-CAL finished sixth, St. Edmond seventh and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows finished eighth.
Leading the Lions was Eli Anderson with a 76 through 18 holes.
Taylor Plagge and Gavin Anderson both shot 79, while Cade Dillavou finished his game with an 83.
Gavin Roske was right behind Dillavou, shooting an 84 and Dylan Bieber shot an 87 to round out the Lion totals.
“We showed up to a challenging course in wind and shot one of our best scores of the year,” said Lion coach Eric Perry. “Eli’s driver was off, but he scrambled all day to make pars, Gavin was just the opposite, striking his tee shots well. I was really happy for our two seniors, Taylor and Gavin, going out in the conference on top.
