Clear Lake police officers promoted

The Clear Lake Police Department has been fortunate to have two promotional ceremonies this spring. On Feb. 19, Brandon Heinz was promoted to Captain.  On April 12, Jeremy Bossard was promoted to Lieutenant.

Heinz has worked for the Clear Lake Police Department since April of 2015. He was promoted to Lieutenant in September of 2020, and assigned to the afternoon shift as the Watch Commander. Prior to working for the Clear Lake Police Department he was a Jailer for the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, holding the rank of Sergeant. During his tenure with Clear Lake, Captain Heinz has spent time as a Field Training Officer, Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Instructor, and is a member of the Iowa Narcotics Officers Association. 

Captain Heinz is now the Division Commander for the Uniform Patrol and Criminal Investigation Divisions. 

Lt. Bossard is assigned to the Uniformed Patrol Division and acts as the afternoon watch commander, which covers 2:45 p.m. to 11 p.m. Lt. Bossard started with the department in 2017, after serving 12 years with the Iowa City Police Department. Lt. Bossard is a certified Drug Recognition Expert Instructor, Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Instructor, and Crime Scene Technician.
