Boys tennis competes at Decorah, end season in districts

The Clear Lake Lion boys tennis squad traveled to Decorah to compete in the district singles and doubles tournament on May 8.

In singles, the Lions fell in two and won one.

Leif Lundberg, of Clear Lake, beat Blake Gates 6-2 and 6-1.

Walker Williams, of Clear Lake, lost to Ethan Schmitt by scores of 6-4 and 6-2.

In the second round, Lundberg fell to Vincent Ball to end his run by scores of 6-4 and 6-1.

In doubles, Hayden Pals and Hayden Shear, of Clear Lake, lost to Colin Krogman and Cruze Kluesner who are ranked fourth in the state by scores of 6-2 and 6-0.

Clear Lake’s Levi Reynolds and Isaac Smith lost to Connor Thome and Payton Scott by scores of 6-3 and 6-3.

“This year’s team was the youngest team I have ever coached,” said Lion head coach Rich Peters. “The players showed a lot of growth this year despite the weather and losing four matches.”
