Algona 10
Clear Lake 1
The Clear Lake Lion junior varsity softball team fell to Algona 10-1 to fall to 3-6 overall.
The Lions scored their only run in the fifth inning with Megan Fisher, Ava Kappmeyer and Lily Moran having single base hits in the loss.
Makyla Johnson pitched four innings and recorded five strike outs with Kappmeyer relieving, pitching the fifth and part of the sixth as the game ended.
“Tonight, we put the ball in play. Things didn’t fall for us. Algona’s pitcher only had two strikeouts on the night,” said coach Christina Gerber. “Which means we were doing what we needed to do at the plate, but they made defensive plays they needed to and held us to only one run.”
