The Clear Lake Lions faced a tough Dike-New-Hartford team last Tuesday, June 11, falling 11-4 through seven innings.
The Lions went up first with one run in the second before taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the fifth.
The flood gates opened as the Wolverines went on a six-run roll to jump out ahead of the Lions. Dike-New-Hartford scored five more insurance runs to stay ahead of the Lion squad.
Clear Lake attempted a comeback in the seventh but only two runs were scored and the Lions dropped to 6-6 on the season.
The Lions scored four runs off seven hits with a home run from Keeton Jeppeson, the first home run for the Lions this season and first of Jeppeson’s young high school career.
The Lions recorded three RBI on the night with one by Luke Fuhrman, Dylan Bieber and Jeppeson.
The Lions had a host of pitchers on the mound with Max Larson taking the majority of the pitches going 3.2 innings, allowing three runs off three hits with four walks and four strike outs.
Tanner Nelson pitched one full inning, allowing six runs off two hits with six walks and two strike outs. Jeppeson came in for one out, allowing two runs with one strike out and two walks and Bieber pitched for two outs with one walk recorded.

The Lions took a long road trip to Red Oak in southwest Iowa to end last week’s string of games on a high note to improve to 7-6 on the season, defeating a 4-15 Tiger team.
The Lions had two runs in the top of the second and would lead 4-0 before the Tigers added their first run in the bottom of the seventh.
The Lions scored four runs off six hits with five singles and a double and four RBI.
Hudson Carney pitched a complete game giving up one run off six hits with 10 strike outs.
