Lions to host Bishop Heelan in first round

The Lions have earned at least one more home game this season after securing the district title and finishing the season with a record of 8-1.

This Friday, the ‘Road to the Dome’ will begin for the Lions as they host the 8-1 Bishop Heelan Crusaders at 7 p.m.

The Crusaders are led by a host of seniors, including under center with Quinn Olson, who has thrown for 947-yards this season on 60 completions, including 17 touchdowns.

Olson has also rushed for 655-yards and 11 touchdowns.

Olson’s favorite target is Sir Brandon Watts who has 17 receptions for 305 yards and six touchdowns.

Watts, also a runner, has rushed for 200-yards and one touchdown.

The leader of the ground game for the Crusaders is Ricky Feauto. He has rushed 93 times for 686 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Max Delaney leads the teams tacklers with 40.5 tackles this season, including two and a half for a loss.

The Crusader defense has collected 16 sacks on the season and 47 tackles-for-loss.

They have recovered nine fumbles and returned those nine for a total of 60 yards, while the defensive backs have come up with 15 interceptions on the season returning those for 312-yards and one touchdowns.

Bishop Heelan is 37-of-40 on PATs this season, while converting on six two-point conversions as well.

The Lions continue to be led by signal caller Cael Stephany who has thrown for 814-yards on 47 completions and 11 touchdowns, while throwing three interceptions.

Thomas Meyer continues to bring in catches, collecting 23 passes for 387-yards and seven touchdowns.

On the ground, the Lions are led by Titan Schmitt who has had 217 carries for 1,408 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Defensively, the Lions are led by tackler Aidan Hartl who has collected 49 tcakles, including seven for a loss and two sacks.

The Lions have picked up eight fumbles and snatched six interceptions out of the air for one touchdown.

The Lions are 36-of-37 on PATs this season and have kicked five field goals and converted two two-point attempts.

The winner of this contest will face the winner of Algona (6-3) and Sioux Center (8-1).
