Clear Lake was declared officially “iced-in” on Tuesday, Nov. 28, by Clear Lake Water Department Superintendent Adam Theiss.
Theiss said he made his way around the lake Tuesday morning, making frequent stops and using binoculars to determine the shoreline was encased in ice. Ice-in is defined as “not being able to launch a boat.”
Clear Lake was declared iced-in on Nov. 21 last year.
The earliest Ice-In date on record is Nov. 4, 1991; the latest on record is Dec. 24, 2001. The last level recorded in 2022 was -11.16” below the weir.
