Warhawks finish third, Dickman breaks record

 

Clarion

The West Fork girls track and field team took third place in Clarion Tuesday night with a pair of first place finishes and a handful of second and third place finishes.

Forest City won the meet, scoring 350 points, while St. Edmond was second with 273. West Fork scored 260 for their third place finish.

The West Fork Warhawk shuttle hurdle team of Preslee Dickman, Keara Wood, Mallery Meier and Abby Schoning finished in a time of 1:20.01, a full 4.41 ahead of North Iowa.

Tarah Ruckdashel ran in the 3000 meter and came out on top by a big margin. Ruckdashel put in a time of 12:20.28, a full :37 seconds ahead of second place. 

Second place was Charlie Breuggeman, of West Hancock, who ran a 12:57.96.

The distance medley team of Breea Weaver, Mallery Meier, Preslee Dickman and Evie Hitzhusen had a second place finish with a time of 4:53.58. 

The 4×400 team that consisted of Weaver, Ruckdashel, Hitzhusen and Brylie Hubka took third overall with a time of 4:48.32. 

The winning team was North Iowa with a time of 4:20.09.

In the 400 meter hurdles, the Warhawks fielded Dickman once more and she finished with a time of 1:19.30 which put her into third.

In the field events, the Warhawks saw Breckyn Dickman take second in the shot put with a throw of 34-08.5, while Brylee Dickman was not far behind in third with a toss of 31-03.5.

Showing some skill in her vertical jump was Keara Wood who was first overall in the high jump, clearing 4-08.

Northwood

The West Fork girls traveled to Northwood for a meet that saw the Warhawks shine in multiple events, including Breckyn Dickman who won the shot put and set a new school record with a throw of 37-01.25.

Overall, the Warhawks placed fourth with 80 points, while Saint Ansgar won the meet with 160.

Northwood-Kensett was second with 128 and Lake Mills was third with 91.

Tarah Ruckdashel was second in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:45.57.

The 4×200 team of Breea Weaver, Preslee Dickman, Alyssa Wood and Keara Wood placed second with a time of 1:57.27.

In field events, Keara Wood placed second in the high jump after clearing 5-02 which was the winning height.

Avery Eastvold, of Lake Mills, finished first after the tie-breaker.

The sprint medley team of B. Weaver, P. Dickman, Abby Schoning and Evie Hitzhusen placed third with a time of 2:07.61.

The distance medley team of B. Weaver, K. Wood, JoAnna Wallance and Ruckdashel placed third with a time of 4:49.41.

The 4×400 team of P. Dickman. Schoning, Hitzhusen and Ruckdashel placed third overall finishing in a time of 4:47.15.

Also in the shot put, Brylee Dickman placed third overall with a throw of 31-07.25.
