Girls tennis heads to Fort Dodge for NCC tournament

The Lion girls traveled to Fort Dodge to compete in the North Central Conference tennis tournament.

The Lions finished fifth overall with one victory, while St. Edmond was on the top with 23.

Webster City placed second, tied with Iowa Falls-Alden, each with 17 and Nevada had 14 which was good for fourth.

Hampton-Dumont-CAL rounded out the teams in sixth.

The Lions saw victories by Paityn Enke over Mary Jane Jensen of H-D-CAL 8-1. Ashley Roberts topped H-D-CAL’s Mattelyn McGuire, 8-0.

Enke fell to Cyra Christensen of Webster City 8-5 and McKinzey Koestner 8-6.

In doubles, the Lions saw Macey Brant and Makayla Martin defeated by Chloe Craighton and Lauren Hill of H-D-CAL 8-1, but the Lion girls fell to Webster City’s Hailey Brim and Morgan Hackbarth 8-2.
