The long awaited groundbreaking for the Jade Apartments at the Emerald Edge subdivision was held Thursday, May 23. According to Chad Schreck, North Iowa Corridor EDC President and CEO, this 98 unit building will be the largest apartment project in Clear Lake’s history.
“Since I came, we’ve always heard housing, housing, housing, housing is our biggest issue. From employers, from citizens, from people coming and looking to move into our community, Clear Lake is just historically been a challenge to come in and have a place that young professionals and new people to our community could come in and have a quality rental opportunity like this and we’re just ecstatic to see what these guys have put together,” Schreck said.
Chris Terry, a Hamilton Real Estate associate and a North Iowa boy from Thornton said their team looks for friendships, partnerships and collaboration when they look for communities to build in and Clear Lake had all of that, right down to the superintendent for Clear Lake Community School District, Doug Gee, who has been a big supporter of their project.
Hamilton Real Estate, a southern Minnesota developer, will construct a 98-unit market-rate apartment complex on Jade Ave. in the Emerald Edge subdivision on Hwy 18. The four-story building will have a mixture of living options including: 47 one bedroom-one bath apartments; 12 studios; 22 two bedroom-one bath apartments; and 14 with two bedroom-two baths. The complex will have its own fitness center and a courtyard with gas grills and fire tables for outdoor entertaining. There will also be 27 tuck-under garages, 32 detached garages and adequate parking in the parking lot.
The building project, set to commence around June 1, 2024, is a little ahead of schedule and developers say it will be certified for occupancy no later than June 1, 2025.
