Andrew Theiss and Zeke Nelson, both members of the 2023 Clear Lake Baseball Team, were recognized with post-season honors for their skills on the diamond.
Theiss, a junior, was selected to the Second Team All-Central District Class 3A by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. Theiss was also a unanimous First Team North Central Conference selection. Theiss was a pitcher for the Lions and ended the conference season with a 4-2 record. He had 68 strikeouts and his ERA was 1.79 in conference play.
“Andrew had a great year on the mound for us as our #1 pitcher,” said Head Coach AJ Feuerbach. “He was respected throughout our area for his ability on the mound and he will be geared up for a great senior year in 2024.”
Zeke was selected as an outfield to the Second Team All-Central District Class 3A.
Nelson, a senior, was also a First Team NCC Outfield selection. He was fifth in the conference at the plate, hitting .405. He tied for second in the conference in stolen bases with 14 – only being thrown out once.
“Zeke had his best baseball season as a senior and he did an awesome job helping to lead our team. We wish him the best at Central Pella where he is heading this fall,” said Coach Feuerbach.
The Clear Lake Baseball Team tied for third place with Algona for the 2023 NCC season with a 9-5 record. Overall, the Lions had a season record of 13-12.
