Final numbers showed 140 children received gifts from the Clear Lake Mirror-Reporter’s annual Giving Tree outreach project.

In addition, 46 local families were helped with donations of food gift cards. The Giving Tree is a needs-based program which asks the public to shop for a child or family who have requested a little help during the holiday season.

Families submit their needs list to the school, which prepares ornaments for a tree on display at the newspaper office. The public checks out the ornaments and returns wrapped gifts to the newspaper where staff then prepare them with names and get them ready for distribution. A very fun and rewarding project!
