Parading past Rotary Senior Living with messages of love and hope

The COVID-19 quarantine has been hard on everyone, but on Thursday, April 23, residents at Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove got the chance to get a little fresh air, and a lot of “Social Distancing” visits from loved ones and community members. A Wave Parade was held in their honor. Roughly a hundred cars, trucks, four-wheelers, bicycles, and even a Hoverboard rolled through the parade featuring lots of smiling faces, hands waving, and signs saying how much they missed their loved ones as well as words of thanks and appreciation to the staff for taking care of everyone during these trying times. Some yelled “We love you mom/grandma.” Others brought their furry friends along who hung out the windows. Some even blew bubbles with giant wands. The residents’ faces lit up in joy to see so many people as many of them held up their own signs with a message. Some gave reassurance saying “#RotaryStrong,” “Keep Calm. We’re Safe.” Other messages sent “Air Hugs,” “Miss You,” and “Send Cards” messages. Still others showed their sense of humor with messages like “We want a dog,” and “Send homemade treats.” Everyone, whether they were a resident, staff, parade participant, or community members who watched from their driveways and windows, had a blast with this event. Who knows. Maybe it will happen again from time-to-time even after the quarantine is over. After all, everyone loves a parade.
