Daybreak Foods’ EGGcellent idea

Eagle Grove, Wright County, and surrounding residents were treated to an EGGstra special treat on Monday, April 27. Daybreak Foods Inc. gave away free eggs… 23,400 dozen to be exact. In their mission to “make sure everyone has enough to eat,” they brought a semi trailer to the Robert Blue Middle School parking lot and loaded them into vehicles (first come first served) so as to practice social distancing. Some came for only a few dozen for their own family while others loaded up the back of vans so they could distribute eggs to area day cares, churches, and food programs. Daybreak Foods Inc. posted that they had distributed 12,600 dozen eggs by noon, which was amazing considering at the height of the line, cars stretched back for block after block after block. But people waited patiently in their vehicles as volunteers loaded eggs as quickly as they could. The day ended at 2:30 p.m. with a total of 18,000 dozen being distributed. Once again, the benefits of small-town living. Free food, volunteers…getting through COVID-19 together. The remainder of the eggs, according to Katelyn Colorado of Daybreak Foods Inc., will be given away in other communities around the State.
