City offers new program to aid private properties

The Eagle Grove Utility Board of Trustees voted to move forward with a new program to aid private properties within the City of Eagle Grove. The Utility Board of Trustees, in accordance with the Eagle Grove Municipal Code of Ordinances, oversees the water treatment and distribution system, the sanitary sewer collection and treatment system, and the storm sewer collection system. As with many communities, Eagle Grove experiences increased flows due to Inflow and Infiltration (I&I) in its sanitary sewer collection system during significant rain events.

The Private Property Sewer Assurance Program was developed as a cost-effective method to remediate the potential for sanitary sewer issues that may be experienced due to significant rain events. The Program consists of improvements made to private property through the installation of check valves on private sanitary sewer service lines by Designated Contractors approved by the Eagle Grove Utility Board of Trustees within certain areas of the community.

The Utility Board of Trustees has earmarked dollars for this Pilot Program. The Utility Board of Trustees will fund the cost of the lowest quote that complies to the program specifications. An application will be available at City Hall, located at 210 E. Broadway, or on the City’s website at www.eaglegroveiowa.org by June 1, 2020.
