• COVID left many of us with a lot of time to clean up and clean out our houses while staying safe the past five months. That means many of us are likely to have a lot of junk we want to get rid of, and this week, you can do just that during Egle Grove Citywide Clean Up Days which was delayed this spring due to the pandemic.
• Residents within the city limits will once again have an opportunity to dispose of unwanted junk. Remember, though, they no longer come and pick it up curbside. For the last several years (and this year) you are required to take it to the central dumping location behind Eagle Grove City Hall.
• If you live alone, do not have a truck, or just need assistance loading and moving items to the drop-off site behind City Hall (209 SE 1st St.), you are encouraged to ask a neighbor or friend for help, or call City Hall at 448-4343 to make other arrangements.
• While many residents have expressed their desire to have curbside pick-up offered again, the idea was revisited, but unfortunately, liability issues ultimately prevailed meaning residents will still have to put forth a little bit more effort to dispose of their unwanted items. Any items placed on the curb will be subject to municipal infraction.
• Drop-off days for Eagle Grove residents only have been set for Wednesday, September 16 through Friday, Sept. 18 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 7 p.m, and Saturday, Sept. 19 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Please have your driver’s license available when entering the drop-off site to provide proof of residency.
• No dumping will be allowed when the site is closed. Please note, you will need to purchase stickers to get rid of certain appliances, electronics, and motor operated items.
