In a short Wright County Board of Supervisors meeting on Monday, Sandy McGrath gave her regular COVID update for the county. In all, she noted there has been 616 positive cases with 80 currently active cases. There were 17 positives over the last week, which she said were scattered throughout the county and not related to a single event or location. Right now, schools in the county are at around a 7.2% positive testing threshold, which McGrath says keeps them at the same level of alert that they have been at. Eagle Grove schools resumed in person this week.
In all, she reiterated that the system for testing and contact tracing is working well throughout the county still. She reiterated though that people are still getting sick with a couple hospitalizations this past weekend. “We still need to wear masks and keep our distance from each other.”
In other board business, Jay LeFevre from First Gabrielson Insurance Agency introduced himself to the board as the new account representative for Iowa Communities Assurance Pool (ICAP) that the county uses. He took over the account recently.
Auditor Betty Ellis told the board she has received grants amounting to over $26,000 for the upcoming election. She is using the moneys for health and safety equipment, in addition to office equipment that will expedite the voting processes, like a folding machine, envelope opener and scanning machine.
