Eagle Grove street and sewer improvements continue

The 2019 CDBG Water/Sewer Projects are currently under construction on the NE side of the community. The water project consists of hydrant replacement, valve replacement, and water main extension. The goal of this project is to add additional water pressure and capacity to the NE distribution system that will provide additional water flow for residents and for fire protection. Other benefits include minimizing stagnation and discoloration through the looping of water mains. Replacing valves and adding new valves allows for better isolation when spot repairs need to be made.

While water mains are at different depths at different locations, the best way for an accurate height is to field verify. The contractor at 4th and Wright installed the hydrant that is currently below grade. The contractor did not have an additional standpipe extension on hand to raise the hydrant to final grade. Once the part is delivered, the hydrant will be raised. The hole was filled to provide better site controls, improve safety, and help with necessary compaction.

The sewer project consists of spot repairs, 15 manhole replacements, 3 manhole rehabilitations, 4,500 lf of CIPP lining which will help cut infiltration/inflow into the sanitary sewer mains and add structure to the mains and manholes.

“The project is commencing nicely. We believe the water portion of the project will be completed prior to winter and the sewer portion will commence through winter for a Spring 2021 completion,” said Eagle Grove City Administrator Bryce Davis.
