MidAmerican Energy customers in Eagle Grove got a letter in the mail recently notifying them that the local customer office, located at 2759 Country Lane Circle in Eagle Grove will be closing. Its last day of operation here will be Friday, Oct. 30, 2020.
The letter states that despite the closure, they are “committed to providing the best customer service possible.”
Geoff Greenwood, media relations manager with MidAmerican Energy, stated that “We have seen a significant drop-off in customer interaction and in-person payments this year,” at the Eagle Grove office. He admits that COVID was probably a factor in this.
MidAmerican Energy has had an office location in Eagle Grove since they took over providing power supply to the community in 1995, replacing Iowa Public Service Company. They currently employ one part-time employee, who Greenwood says has been reassigned to the Fort Dodge office. If customers do not wish to go to the Fort Dodge office for in-person service, Greenwood said MidAmerican Energy is available to answer questions over the phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You can also manage services online.
