At the Wright County Board of Supervisors meeting on Monday morning, county engineer Adam Clemons asked for the ok to spend up to $7,500 on right-of-way research. CGA Engineering would conduct this research for Norway township. In May, the board listened to a presentation from CGA Engineering about this right of way documentation and digitization project. This would put all the documents, deeds, and records pertaining to county right of ways in one place, on the Beacon website, in an interactive, easier to use fashion.
Previously, CGA completed the research for Boone township. Clemons noted that this would be useful to not only county officials but also to utility companies, landowners, realtors, attorneys and others. The money will come out of the roads budget. The board approved the project.
In her weekly update, Sandy McGrath with Public Health reported that the COVID cases in the county are slowing down again. As of Monday, there have been 680 positives in the county. She noted that the 19-40 age group has the highest percentage of the cases, accounting for 53% of the positives.
In other business, an employment contract was approved for a secondary roads patrol officer position out of the Belmond maintenance facility, with a starting wage of $22.87/hr. County Treasurer Peggy Schluttenhofer reported that there has been interest from an investor on a county held property in Dows that had previously gone up for a county tax sale. After 90 days, the investor will be able to file for a tax sale deed.
Certificates were presented to Cynthia Roosa (public health) and Peggy Schluttenhofer (treasurer) for twenty years of employment with the county.
