Do you know someone in Eagle Grove who is always going out of their way to help others? Maybe they deliver Meals on Wheels; maybe they volunteer at church; maybe they donate countless hours to help out in the community or at the Chamber; or maybe they are just the type of person who helps out their neighbor thinking nobody ever notices…but you do. Why not recognize them for their good deeds by nominating them for the annual Roy and Cornelia Allbaugh Community Service Award. It’s easy to do. Simply write down the name of your nominee and how they have contributed their time, talents, and resources in a gracious manner towards the growth ad welfare of this community. Please also include your name, phone number, and address so the committee may contact you if they have further questions.
The Allbaugh Award began in 1984 when Kenneth Allbaugh and Janet Allbaugh Knorr set up the fund as a memorial to their parents.
Since then, the gift and award program has been administered by Our Foundation for the Future and has been funded from the partial interest of a bank CD or government bond purchased with the initial $10,000 contribution from Kenneth and Janet. The other part of the interest is given to Our Foundation for the Future to use as they see fit for area projects and improvements over the course of the year.
Nominations can be mailed to the Eagle Grove Chamber at P.O. Box 2, Eagle Grove, IA, 50533, or to Our Foundation for the Future at P.O. Box 385, Eagle Grove, IA, 50533. Nominations will be accepted until Dec. 15, 2020.
The winner is generally announced during the Annual Chamber of Commerce Banquet held early in the new year, but may change in accordance with COVID regulations at that time. In addition to having their names listed on a plaque located at the Eagle Grove Memorial Library, the winner will also receive a check for $500 which the recipient can donate to the local charity or organization of his or her choice.
