The Eagle Grove City Council met by phone conference this past Monday night, and approved a bid for a housing sustainability project at 713 North Wright. Konomi Construction of Eldora was the successful bidder at $26,500. The resolution states that it is in the best interest of the City and its residents to encourage and aid in improvement of residences to then improve the overall well-being of the residents here. It includes improvements to the roof and exterior of the home along with some exterior work. The only other bid was for $36,367 from Gilman Services of Emmetsburg. In a separate vote, a change order for a reduction of $4,200 for this project was also approved.
City Administrator Bryce Davis updated the Council on the upcoming Northwest First improvement project. A report from ISG stated that they recommend a complete reconstruction as opposed to just a milling and overlay. The project will include curb and gutter and either concrete or full depth hot mix asphalt for the street surface. The engineer’s estimates are just over $819,400 for a concrete surface and nearly $742,000 for an asphalt street. No decision was made at this time.
In other action the Council:
-approved pay application no. 1 for $363,590 to Fort Dodge Asphalt for the Southwest Second and Southwest Fourth improvement project;
-approved a payment to Sportsgraphics for four wrestling mats for the Wellness Center project from donations received;
-approved providing donations received for the Wellness Center project to Eagle Grove Recreation;
-approved the request for proposals for asbestos materials mitigation for a house at 710 South Kirkwood. Those will be considered at the December 7 meeting;
-reviewed and submitted the annual urban renewal report, and in a separate vote approved a resolution obligating funds from the urban renewal tax revenue fund to the payment of annual appropriation tax increment financed obligations.
