Claire Kienzle swam a leg of the Fort Dodge 200 freestyle relay entry last Saturday at the state meet in Marshalltown, helping the foursome to a 26th place finish out of 32 total entries in the event. She was the third leg swimmer and recorded a 26.50 split in joining Dodger swimmers Grace Hartley, Rylie Steinkamp and Eileen Fierke.
“This was a great showing for them at state,” said head coach Ashley Beaumont. “The 26th place honestly doesn’t tell the whole story. Unlike other sports, swimming doesn’t compete in divisions. We compete with every single team in Iowa, so our girls beat out so many teams to get to the big stage. They were right on their best time and all swam strong. I am very proud of this relay, and will be sad in losing the three seniors that compete on this relay.”
