Clarion, IA – Wright County 4-H will be hosting the 1st annual Festival of Trees to support Iowa charity organizations during the holiday season. Each of the six county clubs and teen council have each picked an organization to support and will have their donations on display at the Heartland Museum located at 119 9th St SW in Clarion open to the public from Nov. 23 until Dec. 19. Heartland Museum is currently open by appointment.
Public viewing days will be held on Sunday, Dec. 6 and Saturday, Dec. 19 both from 1-4 p.m. Each 4-H club will be hosting the building in one-hour slots. This is a great time to meet club members and see how they are impacting the local communities.
Each club and the charity they are donating to are outlined below:
Wright Warriors will be donating to the Lotus Community Project. This charity is focused on supporting women and families in need. Wright Warriors will be donating domestic household items.
North East Wright will be donating to Buddy’s Pantry in Belmond. This organization is focused on helping local families with food assistance. North East Wright will be donating non-perishable food items. This tree will be available to viewing and donations at the Belmond Elementary school located at 1004 7th St. NE Belmond, IA 50421.
Lake Clovers will be donating to the Wright County Humane Society. This shelter seeks to find a home for all domestic animals. Lake Clovers will be donating dry dog and cat foods.
Wright County P.I.G. will be donating to Blank Children’s Hospital. This hospital supports young children when undergoing medical procedures. Wright County P.I.G. will be donating toys and gifts.
Liberty Pathfinders will be donating to Little Free Library. This charity works to improve literacy and accessibility to communities with limited access to books. Liberty Pathfinders will be donating books.
Dayton Lake will be donating to Special Olympics Iowa. This charity helps disabled Iowa athletes to be able to participate in the game. Dayton Lake will be doing cash donations.
Wright County Teen Council will be donating to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. This organization gives families with sick children a place to stay. Teen council will be donating pop tabs.
“This is great opportunity for Wright County youth to lift up and support the communities around them – especially during these unprecedented times,” said Emily Zahurones, Wright County 4-H Youth Coordinator. “It’s the season of giving and we hope that you will take a moment to give back as well.”
These trees will be on display at Heartland Museum and the public is encouraged to donate to any of these organizations via a drop box near the tree when viewing the festival from Nov. 23 until Dec. 19.
