The Eagle wrestling team took seventh last Saturday at a tournament in Fairbank hosted by Wapsie Valley. Central Springs took the team title with 140.5 points, followed in the top five by North Linn with 133, Wapsie Valley with 125, Nashua-Plainfield with 123 and South Winneshiek with 106.5. The Eagles were seventh out of 13 teams in attendance.
Kaden Pritchard (120) and Trent Sorenson (160) both took second place in their respective brackets for the highest finishers. Pritchard followed a bye with a fairly quick fall over Kirk (Anamosa) in 1:09. He then lost by fall to Regan (Waukon) in the finals. Sorenson also drew a bye, then took a nice 14-6 major win over Ladeburg (Wapsie). He lost by fall to Peyton (N. Linn) in the championship match.
Mack Morgan (106) and Dustin Dawson (132) were both fourth at their weights. Morgan had a fall in 5:55 over Scranton (Anamosa) for his lone win, while Dawson scored a 10-8 overtime squeaker over Price (Wapsie) as his win. Damon Richter was fifth at 285, taking that match by fall in 5:23 over Cowell (Waukon). Derricklee Harms was sixth at the end of the day, with a fall in 3:14 over Strouth (C. Springs) and another fall in 1:06 over Fruendt (HLV) wrapped around a bye.
The team goes to a quad meet at Algona this Saturday after the tournament at Emmetsburg was cancelled.
