In her weekly COVID update during the county supervisors meeting, Sandy McGrath reported that the county is sitting at 1,539 positive cases as of Monday. She added those numbers may go up as testing and labs get back in full swing after the holidays. McGrath said vaccinating is continuing throughout the county, and she expects to receive 200 more Moderna doses per week for the foreseeable future. They are still in the 1A tier for vaccinations, meaning they are vaccinating healthcare workers and those that are in contact with infectious materials. McGrath added that vaccinations slowed down a bit around the holidays, and because each vial contains six doses that need to be used within a few hours, coordinating takes some effort. She emphasized that they are getting the doses out as quickly as possible.
The board also heard from Sadler Construction and Allers Architects regarding the progress of the Courthouse and Professional Building roofing projects. The projects have again been delayed after previous reports that they would be completed by the end of December. Mitch Sadler reported that for the courthouse, windows will be installed throughout this week and gutters and metal work will be finished up. He added that they will be able to remove safety fencing and clean up the area around the courthouse later this week and the project should be 100% done. The professional building is waiting for more roofing panels. Workers have also been out because of COVID. Sadler estimated around two more weeks for that project. The architects will also have to come back to complete punch list items in the next weeks.
In other business, the board voted to extend the expired Wright County, Iowa Infectious Disease Action Plan COVID-19 Pandemic policy until February 28, 2021. They also approved the first pay estimate for the work to drainage district #107 in the amount of $21,663.
