Clarification regarding last week’s Assessor’s tax levy story

As reported last week, the Wright County Assessor’s tax levy is increasing from .48 to .74 per $1,000 for the next fiscal year. Assessor Shari Plagge reiterated the assessor’s tax levy amounts to less than 2% of a total tax bill. For example, as a result of this increase, a person paying taxes on a $100,000 home will pay $40 towards the assessor’s budget on their tax bill in the next fiscal year, rather than $26, as was the case last year.
