The Eagle track & field team traveled to the Nielsen Family Fieldhouse in Humboldt on March 12 for the annual indoor meet. The host Wildcats won with 138 points, followed by: Carlisle 110, Webster City 66, Roland-Story 62, Clear Lake 52, St. Edmond 47, Algona 28, Eagle Grove 16, C-G-D 12 and Garner-Hayfield/Ventura 12.
High spots for the team included Derricklee Harms making a great 400 dash run in 56.60 for third place. The 4×2 ‘A’ entry of Mack Morgan, Orlando Melendrez, Blake Morgan and Harms finished eighth in 1:46.14. Harms then teamed up with B. Morgan, Justin Agtun and Noah Thul to finish in 4:02.73 for 10th for the ‘A’ entry in the 4×4. The ‘A’ shuttle hurdley relay entry of Agtun, Jensen Cooper, Braydon Carr and Dustin Dawson covered the track in 47.62 for seventh. Agtun also took 11th in 11.16 in the 60-meter hurdles, with Cooper 12th in 11.17. The 4×2 entry of Roberto Calles, Nick Huntley, Isaac Zigrang and Jose Lizama toured the track in 1:53.97 for 14th in the 4×2.
The distance medley ‘A’ entry of Huntley, B. Morgan, Harms and Noah Thul put up a 4:32.01 for 12th, with the ‘B’ entry of M. Morgan, Dustin Dawson, Drake Canavan and Pamperin 14th in 4:35.59. Canavan was 15th in the 400 with a 1:02.77 time. He was followed in the event by Dawson in 25th at 1:06.72 and Thul in 32nd at 1:10.25. Zach Pamperin finished 14th in the 800 in 2:36.74. Also in that event were Josue Castro in 16th at 2:38.36, Alex Gaspar in 21st at 3:02.13 and Brandon Crail in 22nd at 3:26.86. Jaden Armstead was 13th in 6:27.96 in the 1600 event. The 4×4 ‘B’ entry of Canavan, Zigrang, Cooper and Gaspar came home in 4:42.03 for 18th in the 4×4.
In the high jump, it was Brady Beck eighth at 5’ 4” and Carr 14th at 4’ 10”. Shot put finishes were led by Jack Mendoza at 13th with a 33’ 9” best mark. He was followed by Aidan Vrba in 17th at 32’ 6”, Gabe Binkerd in 18th at 31’ 11”, Victor Rodriquez in 35th at 26’ 8” and Jorge Orozco in 40th at 24’ 1”. 60-meter dash finishers were Carr in 22nd at 8.34, Calles in 23rd at 8.45, M.Morgan in 27th at 8.63 and Johnathan Bannister in 28th at 8.79. In the 200, it was Melendrez 28th in 28.71. He was followed by Bryan Torres in 36th at 30.22 and Lizama in 37th at 30.37.
The team will now prepare to host the Umstead Relays on April 6th.
