RBMS hires new principal

Robert Blue Middle School’s new principal, Charles Mausser, comes to the Eagle Grove Area School District from Columbus Secondary in Columbus Junction, IA where he has taught band since 2011. In 2016, he began teaching choir there as well.  Prior to that, he worked at both the Central City High School and middle school where he served as an assistant in the band program.  Before working at Central City, Mausser worked at West Music in Coralville and Marion.  He has also taught private trombone, trumpet, and tuba lessons since 2002.

Mausser is excited to begin another avenue of his career this fall in Eagle Grove when he takes over for retiring RBMS principal, Scott Jeske.

I am eager to deepen my learning about the people and community of Eagle Grove.  I look forward to acclimating myself and being involved,” said Mausser.  “Also, I am looking forward to identifying where my strengths best fit with nurturing the current student learning and growth.”

Mausser said he is also eager to come to Eagle Grove, where he plans on making his home, because he enjoyed his time in the community and surrounding areas when he came for his interview.  He also was impressed by the staff and administration he met during his interview at the school.

“I appreciated the leadership’s proactive thought and action to meet student needs and cultivating an environment offering staff their best chance to  impact students and nurture success,” explained Mausser.

Being new to the district, he does not plan to come in and make a lot of changes.

“My priority is learning, investing, and deepening my understanding of what is currently occurring in Robert Blue Middle School.  Myself, and even the role of principal, is only one part of a much larger system.  Ensuring my role partners with existing initiatives, ideas, and programs is quite important to me,” said Mausser.

As he starts this new journey, he has several goals, not just for the students of Robert Blue Middle School, but public schools in general.

“(It’s about everyone) with a connection to the school supporting each other through aiding each other in our journey to be our best self and maximize the incredible value we bring each other and ourselves,” said Mausser.

In his free time, he enjoys swimming and golfing.  Also, when possible he likes to attend various music concerts and events.

Mausser is originally from Oelwein, IA.  After graduating from high school, he got his undergraduate degree from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA, followed by his master’s degree in trombone performance from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Co.  He then received his school administration coursework and certification from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, IA.
