The 4×4 and sprint medley relay’s were both fourth.
They went to Humboldt Friday for the Charlie Bunn Relays. “We’re continuing to find where all the pieces fit as we really know very little at this point with having almost two years between competition,” stated head coach Ben Demuth. “Our sprinters are really starting to show some promise, and they’re going to need to continue to step up and meet the challenge as I see our area with some really talented sprinters. It will take a herculean effort to be able to compete with some of those teams. Blake Morgan has really stepped up for us this year and I have really enjoyed watching him take off. Our hurdlers are a work in progress, with several new pieces, but they have really been working hard thus far and have been scoring points for us so that is a pleasant surprise. Our mid-distance guys have some work to do in order to compete, but we are pretty inexperienced with that group as they are are eiher freshmen or sophomores with a sprinkling of juniors who are learning what it takes to compete at the varsity level. Adam Herrington has been working hard at being our distance man and I’m pleased to see his work ethic in practice. I know he’s not where he wants to be or where his time is he’s desiring, but he’s a hard worker and I’m hopeful the continued progress will start to show in meets.”
He then turned his attention to the field events. “Brady Beck has dome an outstanding job in the high jump,” said the coach. “He has scored points in both meets, and I know he has some better efforts in him yet. We just have not had the time we need to be able to really work on it. Our weightmen are also a work in progress right now, and we are trying to find the right guys who can step up in practice and continue to work to get better each and every day. We have three guys in the long jump who have not jumped a whole lot in their careers, and like the high jump have not had a lot of time to work on the mechanics of jumping due to really only being able to jump into the pit the past two weeks. I like their attitude, and am hopeful they can start posting some distances that can score points for us.”
